Officials recommend folks to boil their water before drinking.
SALT ROCK -- West Virginia American Water has issued a precautionary boil water advisory for the Salt Rock District of Huntington.
The affected customers are on Green Valley Road, Long Branch Road, Bowen Ridge Road, Idle Acres, Happy Valley Road, Prices Creek Road, Camp Branch Road and Pleasant View Road.
The advisory was prompted because a tank supplying the area has gone dry.
Once water service is restored, customers should boil their water before consumption until further notice.
Customers are asked to bring water used for drinking, cooking, bathing and brushing teeth to a full boil for a minimum of one minute, then cool before use.
Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms that may be present in the water.
