According to Sgt. Alan Browning of the Chapmanville Police, Otis Bowling and his wife Emmy Lou are dead in an apparent murder-suicide.
CHAPMANVILLE -- 13News has now learned that the woman shot in a Wednesday night shooting has now died, just hours after her husband died of gunshot wounds.
According to Sgt. Alan Browning of the Chapmanville Police, Otis Bowling and his wife Emmy Lou are dead in an apparent murder-suicide.
Browning said around 8:04 p.m. Wednesday, police were called to the Bowling home on Bowling Alley in Chapmanville in Logan County. When they arrived, the found the couple both shot.
Otis Bowling died on the way to the hospital. Emmy Lou died Thursday morning at Charleston Area Medical Center.
Sgt. Browning says this case is being treated as a murder-suicide. He says he cannot believe this would occur in his town.
"It is a shock to the community," he said. "[Murder-Suicide] has never happened in Chapmanville. They were well-known in the community and everyone liked them. Its a shame that this happened.
Browning did confirm that it was a murder-suicide, but did not say who pulled the trigger. He says his department is still investigating, and awaiting autopsy reports.
