PORTSMOUTH, Ohio -- The Scioto County Sheriff's Department arrested a Portsmouth man after a stabbing incident Friday morning.

Investigators said the incident happened in Lucasville on Nov. 18. Deputies said Steve Lockhart, 44, from Portsmouth got into a verbal argument with Timothy Boggs, 26, from Minford.

The confrontation escalated to a physical confrontation. Deputies said Lockhart pulled out a knife, striking Boggs in the chest.

Boggs was taken to Southern Ohio Medical Center and then transported to Grant Medical Trauma Center in Columbus, Ohio, by medical helicopter. Boggs is listed in critical condition.

Lockhart fled the area and was arrested without incident involving a traffic stop in Porter Township.
