Parking at all meters in downtown Charleston will be free from Nov. 28 through Christmas.

CHARLESTON -- Although it may not feel like Christmas outside — the city of Charleston is getting ready for Christmas shoppers.
On Nov. 16, City Council again voted to approve its "Citizen Appreciation Parking" for the holiday season.
Starting Saturday, Nov. 28, all metered on-street parking downtown will be free of charge through Christmas.
It's an effort to boost business is the downtown district, while spreading the holiday cheer.
