ASHLAND -- Residents in seven Kentucky counties will no longer have to drive to receive cardiology services.
King's Daughters Medical Center is bringing cardiology services on wheels to Elliott, Floyd, Johnson, Lewis, Magoffin, Martin, and Morgan counties. The center received $191,000 in grants from the Appalachian Regional Commission.
The funds will help King's Daughters in purchasing cardiac testing equipment for the mobile health unit.
Mobile cardiology for under-served areas will help reduce the burden of heart disease in those counties. Free screenings, diagnostic testing and other cardiology services will be offered.
