Charleston -- Tonya Browning and her two children make their way through Sam's Club looking for bargains. She says saving money benefits the entire household.
"Family movie night, putting that money towards a dinner out, or a vacation, every single dollar we save is a dollar the family can use someplace else," says Tonya Browning of Saint Albans.
Shopping begins by using her Sam's Club Card to print coupons. Then it's time to go up and down the aisles. First on the list is pizza, buying three instead of one.
"Ordinarily they cost $5.50 to $6.50 depending on which store we go to, $18-20 dollars depending on where you get them. Here we get them for $13.38," says Tonya.
"It's about a dollar, dollar 50 cheaper here. Since we are already doing our grocery shopping here anyway that's an extra dollar, dollar 50 in my pocket," says Tonya.
Others are also looking for ways to put money back in their pockets, and that's been good for business. "You're running up on November and December, huge months for everybody, but as far as February, March and April, non-busy months we classify as, we were really busy," says Ryan Duncan, Member Services Manager at Sam's Club in Charleston.
Besides bulk shopping, Tonya also cuts coupons. "For regular grocery shopping we save about ten dollars every pay period, so about 20 dollars a month just by clipping coupons out of the Sunday paper. It takes 15-20 minutes to do that," says Tonya.
Still, this Sam's shopping trip was a profitable one. "This time we saved about $20 dollars. Had I needed diapers this time we would have saved an additional $20 dollars, so that's $40 dollars we would have saved in one visit," says Tonya.
Tonya also gets coupons on-line. She always visits the web sites of reputable stores and says she has not had a problem with spam.
