CHARLESTON -- The future of coal is at stake — and now, representatives from entities in all corners of the Mountain State are joining forces to fight back.
Tuesday morning, those folks gathered for a meeting of the minds. Included in the discussion were Gov. Joe Manchin, local and state legislators, county commissioners and coal industry leaders.
The concern is permits are being held up by the EPA and that could have negative impacts on the state.
A press conference was held Tuesday evening, where these officials announce they're coming together as a delegation on a common set of principals and taking a plan to the White House to get some answers.
The goal is to put pressure on those at the White House who can deliver hard information. These leaders say they are willing to make changes to the coal mining process, but they need to understand what changes the EPA want them to make first.
