The Charleston Veterans Day Parade and Remembrance Ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Nov. 11.

The parade is one of the largest in West Virginia and one of the oldest in the nation, and will begin at the Robert C. Byrd Federal Court House on Virginia Street East and continue down to Capitol Street to the Veterans Memorial at the Lee Street Triangle.

There, at 10:45 a.m., officials will host a Remembrance Ceremony. National Guard members, Gov. Joe Manchin, Charleston Mayor Danny Jones and veterans are expected to attend.

Poca Valley Bank will hold a flag-raising ceremony for veterans at 10 a.m.. on Nov. 10 at its Clendenin branch.

Poca Valley Bank will hold a flag-raising ceremony for veterans at 1 p.m. on Nov. 10 at its Elkview branch.

HUNTINGTON

The Huntington Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony is set for 10 a.m. Nov. 11. The parade will begin at 14th Street West and will continue east along Memorial Boulevard to the Memorial Arch. The Memorial Day Ceremony will begin at 11 a.m.

Vinson Middle School will host a Veterans Day assembly in the school's gymnasium at 1:15 p.m. on Nov. 10. The assembly will feature music and a demonstration by the Spring Valley High School Junior ROTC.

INSTITUTE

The West Virginia State University ROTC Yellow Jacket Battalion will perform a ceremonial posting of the colors at 7 a.m. November 11. A retiring of the colors will be at 5 p.m. The event will take place in the flag circle in the center of the campus quadrangle.

IRONTON, Ohio

VFW Post 8850 will host a Veterans Day Dinner at 1 p.m. Nov. 11 at 3028 S. Third St. Veterans and their families are invited to attend.

POCA

Poca Valley Bank will hold a flag-raising ceremony for veterans at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 10 at its Poca branch.

PORTSMOUTH, Ohio

The 17th Annual Veterans Recognition Day is planned at Shawnee State University from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 10 at the Selby Grand Lobby in the Vern Riffe Center for the Arts and on the center’s east lawn.

SOUTH POINT, Ohio

South Point High School will host a Veterans Day Celebration at 1 p.m. Nov. 11. All local veterans and their spouses are invited to attend.

WALTON

Poca Valley Bank will hold a flag-raising ceremony for veterans at 11 a.m.. on Nov. 10 at its Walton branch.

WINFIELD

The City of Winfield will hold a Veterans Appreciation Day celebration is scheduled for 2 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Putnam County Courthouse. Congressional Medal of Honor recipient Hershel "Woody" Williams is the keynote speaker and will feature a military flyover by the 130th Airlift Wing.

Poca Valley Bank will hold a flag-raising ceremony for veterans at 8:15 a.m.. on Nov. 10 at its Winfield branch.

WURTLAND, Ky.

Wurtland Elementary in Greenup County, Ky. will host a Veterans Day celebration at 9 a.m. Nov. 9 in the school gymnasium. All local veterans are invited to attend.
