CHARLESTON -- The mother of a Charleston man shot and killed by Police after a high speed chase is now suing the city.

Patricia Harrison, the mother of Brian Good, filed suit in Kanawha County Circuit Court Friday.

She's alleging the senior officer on shift the night of Sept. 11 should have called off the pursuit of her son.

That chase also led to death of Patrolman Jerry Jones, who was killed by friendly fire.

According to Metro News, Harrison and her attorney say police failed to follow proper procedures.

Charleston Mayor Danny Jones has said he welcomes the chance to take the case to court.

The President of the Charleston Fraternal order of Police also says he believes the officers were well within the bounds of their duty when they used lethal force.

All he had to do was stop and this tragedy would have been averted...I'm sorry she lost her son, but another family lost their son as well all because Good would not do what he was told by law enforcement...since when has it become O.K. to break the law...stop making excuses for being wrong...wrong is wrong and no money should ever be given to anyone or anyone's family who does wrong!

I'm sorry for your loss, but we lost a true american heroe because your so called angel was being an idiot. Such an angel, was he or was he not out that day with a sex offender and a woman who already had a history of not respecting the law officers.

If the boy would have stopped two people would be alive today. But he didnt and the Charleston Police murdered him and a fellow police officer. His mother deserves something as does the widow of the fallen officer.

You seriously think she DESERVES ANY money from the City?? Have you ever been a police officer? Have you done ANY public service work??? You'd be complaining if they let him go and he killed his ex girlfriend that night wouldn't you?? Or what if you were that ex girlfriend he was after? How would you feel if the police just let him go hoping he'd go back to his LAST KNOWN residence?? People sieze to amaze me. NEVER happy with what public service workers do.

If her son had obeyed the police and stopped when they tried he would be alive. But no her angel who was always in trouble with the police and the family court system had to be stupid and it got him killed as well as one of Charleston's finest caught in the crossfire. Obey the police and you have no problems.
