Could Fort Hood Shooter, Psychiatrist Not Help Himself?

Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan should have been finding ways to relieve his pre-deployment stress, according to a Charleston psychologist.

FORT HOOD, Texas -- Psychiatrists are trained to deal with other people's problems, but what if they don't make time to deal with their own?

That could be part of the reason Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan opened fire inside his military base in Fort Hood, Texas Thursday, killing a dozen military members.

It's possible as the military psychiatrist neared his own deployment, the stories his fellow comrades were sharing with him hit a little too close to home.

Clinical Psychologist Dr. David Clayman said if Hasan wasn't finding ways to vent, the stories of trauma and sadness may have been too much for him to bear.

"The burden of confidentiality of coming up with answers and helping people through things, we take it home, not on an every day basis, but the cumulative total on us is significant. we are just like other people. we hear the stories and we can only be dispassionate for so long," said Clayman.

Clayman said military personnel who don't deal with their stress have greater physical and psychological problems.

So an American born, Virginia Tech educated doctor who kills people is obviously a terrorist? What about Charles Whitman? Timothy McVeigh? John Wayne Gacy? The guy who shot up the cafeteria in Killeen or Lubbock TX not far from Ft. Hood? Racist nutjobs like you don't make life any better for any of us with your instant analysis. Secondary trauma is real, which does not mean that it leads to violence. But take a look at domestic violence and suicide among those veterans who have served abroad in the last 8 years. Hope your Veterans Day poppies and your flag decals keep you blind to the pain and suffering from Mr Bush's wars.

Funny how our dear leader immediately jumped to the conclusion that the Cambridge police officer "acted stupidly" but after the slaughter at Ft. Hood he says we must not make a hasty judgement........very curious. This was a terrorist act.......if it looks like a duck , sounds like a duck and walks like a duck .IT'S A DUCK !! With all the red flags this monster was sending up , homeland security could have prevented this. Why was he allowed anywhere near the military ? Political correctness is the cause of this . We had better wise up before it's too late.

His only problem was that he was a terrorist. Why glorify the guy with this crap? Being a terrorist and glorifing terrorism is the exact same thing in my opinion. Shame on you Kristen Sell and Dr. David Clayman.
