CHARLESTON -- After the first Kanawha County H1N1 related death, health officials get proactive to help the community fight back.
Monday night, the Health Department held the first of three town hall meetings, giving concerned parents a chance to ask questions about H1N1.
Only about a dozen folks turned out at Riverside High School, but they came with a boatload of concerns.
Health officers did their best to address those fears.
But while some left satisfied, others said they still need more information.
"I was kind of scared to get the shot because I didn't have enough information on it," explained Danessa Brisendine, a grandmother from Belle. "I'm worried about the side effects. Very worried about the side effects and am I satisfied with my answers -- ehhh, I don't know. I need to look into it some more. Will he get the shot? More than likely I don't want anything to happen to him."
There are two more opportunities to ask questions. The group will have a town hall meeting again Tuesday at Capitol High School and a third Thursday at St. Albans High.
