HUNTINGTON -- West Virginia Senator Robert C. Byrd announced Saturday funding is on the way for one local institution. President Obama has signed into law the 2010 Energy and Water Development Appropriations bill which includes $3 million for medical research at Marshall University.
Byrd is the senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee and says the money will be used for the continued development of a new Center for Diagnostic Nano-systems.
That center will be responsible for developing new non-invasive technologies designed to detect and diagnose disease and illness at very early stages.
The program will be housed in the Robert C. Byrd Biotechnology Science Center.
