Police said a man was waiting to cross Oak Street onto 14th Street in Kenova when he was hit by a tractor trailer.
KENOVA -- Updated Monday at 5 p.m. Kenova Police have reported that the driver of the semi-truck in Monday's accident is identified as Michael Joyce of South Carolina. He has been charged with felony leaving the scene of an accident involving death, as well as negligent homicide, a misdemeanor charge.
Updated Monday at 4:26 p.m. Kenova Police confirmed the man killed by a semi-truck Monday morning was Deris Scott, 68, of Kenova.
Police have questioned the driver of the truck and charges are pending.
Original Story Kenova police are investigating a fatal accident that happened Monday morning.
Kenova police said a man in a motorized wheelchair was waiting to cross the street when a semi-truck hit the victim, knocking him out of the chair.
Police said the man was waiting to cross Oak Street onto 14th Street in Kenova. He died at the scene.
Officers said the semi-truck kept going, the driver apparently did not know he had hit the victim.
Other drivers flagged down the truck at the Exxon station just before the Interstate.
The victim's name has not been released.
No charges have been filed against the driver.
Kenova police and West Virginia State Police are investigating.
