CHARLESTON -- Charleston Police have released the dashboard video of the night Officer Jerry Jones was shot and killed. Copies of five dashboard camera videos were given to members of the media at an afternoon press conference at City Hall.

The video shows the pursuit beginning on the West Side of Charleston, heading toward Pinch, and Brian Good, the driver of the pick-up ramming Charleston Police cruisers.

By the way, if everyone would like to know the videos we are being shown on the web has been edited, and if you notice on some of the sites that airs these that the cops or who ever put these one sided videos together that the music get louder and louder as time goes on in order to keep the public from hearing what is being said, but I was able to pick up a few things, seems they did not edit or turn music up as loud as they should have, after Offier Jones was taken from the scene the cops realize's that Brian's truck is still running, guess they did not see any point on assisting in his care, he was not one of thyeir good ole boys, but if you listen you can hear the other cops looking into truck and saying something like that f---ing piece of sh--, and he isn't noting but a piece of sh---, it's bull shi- what the hel- is that guys problem? one shot in back of head, 7 shots to chest, and by what I hear he was covered in bruises, sounds like an over kill to me, talk about bull shi-, that whole bunch of those cops are full of it, watch all tapes available and listen very closely, read all articles, but also contact the news stations and police department and find out why they only showed the public half the story, the one that made Brian seem like the bad guy and the cops the good ones, a badge on a persons chest does not make them the good goy only a person who can do what they want and to who they want and get by with it. I think if they are going to tell a story then tell it all, not just the parts they want, I don't know why he ran, maybe because he was scared, remember he had prior conflicts, and knowing some cops goes over board ( as the shooting should show you) and he knew what was coming, another beating along side a dark country road while hand cuffed who knows, but I do know we all make bad judgement calls, do we want to be shot down as he was because of this? I know when we get scared there that the fight or flight patteren kicks in, he choose to flee, he was unarmed and blocked in, yes a real danger "NOT" the men who brought his and 5 children and many love ones life to an end that night needs to be accountable for their actions, these men took an oath to serve and protect, not just their own, or who the choose to, but all and they failed that night, Brian was not even thought of or was even attempted to be given medical treatment, why because after shoot him as many times as they did, why waste their time on him, I must say the flavor of their language of a young man dead or laying there dying was a real role model for children to follow. bang up job bazoo's, give your selves a toot, now go out and see how many more scared and troubled souls you can cold blooded shoot.

Well im going to go on and say it... if jones shot good in the back of the head like i have heard he did , he was the only one behind good, then carmma wasted no time in a pay back, i don`t feel sorry for officer jones, dont get me wrong i have respect for the police there job is a tuff job, but the way i see it no one had any reason to fire a shot good was traped he was done at the most he may have got out of the truck and ran, but you know the police knew who he was and where to lived, let him go 6am go kick down his door drag him out of bed and take him to jail, nothing he did was worth getting murdered, and that is what we all see is a murder i think the police officers that was there should be charged, and i hope the godd famely gets a good lawer and takes the city of charleston and the state for every thing they can get.... i didnt know good he may have been a nut i dont know but he should not have been shot and as far as jones live by the pen die by the pin in this case gun

Most of the cops were Rookies, 4 of them had one year on the force. Working the night shift while the other fat Day shift cops were sleeping dreaming about Tudor Biscuits, lol. Go down to Tudors at 6am in South Charleston and see all the SC cop cars there, best time to commit a crime.

Brian is the one who owes the apology to his children for being a father who did not obey the law. Good standards, good example for his kids.

He was a father. He was a husband. He was a son. He was a brother. He was a friend. His death was not warranted. I wish for one second, that an apology would be offered to his grieving family. People make mistakes... he made plenty. But, the end did NOT justify the means. As a friend of his family, we do NOT wish to undermine the death of the officer. We are saddened by his loss as well. But, Brian Good was not the person who the media has portrayed him to be. And, the children who have lost their father deserve an apology...

There goes your trigger happy cops killing one of there own, when it could have been prevented by obeying the order to stop then got him at his home later. I really feel for the cops family, it is a sad situation but even though Brian was a troubled boy he still was someones child.

It is easy for people to sit back and second guess the incident. A lot of people on here offer their two cents and have no idea. You cannot have a EMT vehicle following behind you in a chase. That comment is just stuped. Most EMT's will not even pull up to a scene until it is secure. People give their ideas of what they would have done from their experience of watching COPS. Each agencie has different policies and we do not know CPD's. This was a very unfortunate ending. I feel for all of the officers involved.

From the Video I have seen this incident turned for the worse in a matter of seconds. You can hear the engine revving even after the truck has stopped ramming the cruisers. the officers feared for the safety of themselves and the public. It was a tragic night that ended with the loss of 2 lives. It is sad but I believe we should use this video as a training guide to help officers in the future. To the people that want to complaint about the entire episode. Go ahead go out and spend evening dealing with this type of person

first of all i am sorry for changing the subject but i must post this...this is a prime example of why law abiding americans should all carry a concealed weapon on person and for home defense like myself, nothing against the police but ithis video just brings home the facts i've always known, that if you are getting attacked by a bad guy it's alot better to defend yourself than call 911. good in this video even though the bad guy basically gets no medical attention while all the others try to save officer jones life, even though both were probally dead beyond saving that is not my point, this is my point.......

if officers get a 911 for help call from one of their buddies at their house all the officers will race to help but the average joe like myself they will not make it to your house for an extra 5 to 20 minutes, thus thats why it's good to defend your self. back to subject matter... after watching this video, yes it is clear the officers made a terrible mistake with the crossfire, crossfire could be ignored if the perp actually had a gun but he didnt, as for putting the blame, you all need to blame the WV state police for all officers go through the academy and this is how they are trained to do if a vehicle rams them, the LAPD are masters at boxing in a vehicle so the ramming is a less of a problem but they see alot of chases, these officers in WV hardly have a chase so when one happens their stress levels are going bonkers so it's easy to make a mistake like here, in my final opionion after seeing this video, no shots should have been fired, if you listen to the audio carefully you will hear one officer so high on stress he asks other cops to look for good's weapon, they already had him cornered,

common sense would tell you that anytime good would go back into reverse the officers just had to follow to not allow anymore space for ramming and behind good was no more road to keep backing up, but i believe the stress levels were so out of control that the officers just assumed that good had a gun so they wanted to shoot first, finally, whats the deal with the cop going ape crap over the female in his car so-called trying to steal his car, she wasnt handcuffed in the first place ? so yes if she stole the car it would be another mistake on cop, i am sad for good's famiily and the officers family, if good had a gun then i wouldnt feel nothing for good , but in the end he didnt, but folks cmon the officers are not at fault as much as the people who trined them up their at institue WV whcih produces ALOT of corrupt troopers, by the way i am a christian who believes that one should respect the law but in these last days when those that enforce the law are breaking the law how can one obey the law ? but Jesus Christ warned about the last days it would be like this so no surprise to me , peace777

First my sincere condolences to officer Jones' family. Now from watching the videos and listening to the tapes, how does 5 or more officers give chase, knowing that they are eventually going to catch the vehicle at some point......and don't have EMS crews coming from all directions of County EMS stations.

I can't believe that an officer laid there for nine minutes, with no medics, no EMS on the scene. The officers did the best they could to save officer jone's live, but they had to keep asking what they could do with a chest wound.

Was Goode dead at the scene, or left to die, no one mentioned that he was dead or needed a medic, even if he was the suspect of the chase.

next, officer Jone's had no chance, without an airlift and at least a medic on the scene immedialety after the shooting. goode had been on the run all day, so some planning had to be done as what to do when they spotted him again.

Too many Police cars in teh chase and NO EMT's following behind "Just in case" when everyone watching from minute one knew what the outcome was going to be.

No one could be heard calling for EMT backup anytime during the chase, even with the toolbox etc being throw at them. The gravel pit, the cars blocking the exit.....then shots from everywhere started.........i just feel sorry for officer jone's that no one had his back, or accounted for him before the shooting started.

You can't prosecute the officers for doing their jobs. But i think this is a wake up call on proceedure that will be addressed, or probably already has been addressed.

My prayers and thoughts are with all at the scene.

Good was a bad guy, a very bad guy. But folks, the bullet that killed that fine young officer was a police issue bullet. Yu CAN NOT discount the lack of experience or training in the poor "line of fire" that killed Officer Jones. Officers were on 3 sides of the truck firing into the cab. A recipe for disaster. You can lay blame on the perp all you want but the fact is the shot one of their own... simple

Yea after 7 seven shots the cops scream, "Get out of the car" DAH!!!!!! Did he have a gun? No! No Police spotlights out on a dark county road. NO!! I think he was tryin to back away when the SUV cruiser blocked him in the front, he got stuck in a roadside rut, thanks DOH, and the cop car behind him had him blocked and that cop from behind fired the fatal shot that went through the drivers side window of the truck, you see an orange flash in the rear window of the truck, you see it blowing out the window and it struck Officer Jones then he fell behind the tree. He paniced because he SAW the POLICEMEN pull his weapon, His truck got stuck in one of those DOH ruts beside every road and he was pinned. Blame it on the DOH for not maintaining those roads in every WV. county. Granted the Punk was and IDIOT. God Bless Officer Jones. This NEVER should have happened.

Very poor police decisions. No spotlights on the truck, just blue flashing lights, fired first and asked questions later. They had him cornered. Two cars in front and one in back. Chasing him up a curvy two lane country road like he was some big time banker robber from LA. Driving all over the road, into on coming traffic, asking for an accident to happen. They should have slowed down, called the Sheriffs and Troopers to get a search going for the truck, that road goes to Campbells creek which is in Kanawha county. There was no need to shoot somebody in that situation. The CPD was out of line on this one. I bet the family files a wrongful death lawsuit against Charleston. There was also no coordination between the various Law enforcement depts, You bubba, where you at? Looked like something of COPS. Granted the man was and Idiot, but the police defintely where out for a joy ride. I'm very sorry for Officer Jones but the City and County need to look over their procedures. They chased this guy all the way from the Westside????? They even knew who the guy was?? So over a piece of junk flatbed truck, you got an officer killed by one of his own?????? That's good police work???? I don't think so. I don't feel Protected.

what ever happened to road blocks people if one officer is in a bad situation hey call for help 5 or 10 miles up the road. i know that it's easy for me to say but if you haven't stopped them in 5min stop the chase. get all the info that you can and run with it use the media for your help., my hands are with all that protect and serve. I am not blaming any one it's just sometimes training is not enough. I think schooling should be at least 4 years because one mistake i notice was the many times a officer has to ask can i do compressions on a chest womb . wow how many times did he ask that as many as shots were fired. good bless all who were affected by this

I see no poor decisions here except the poor decision made by Brian Good who could have saved two lives by one simple action and that would have been, pulling over !! I see a tradedgy yes and two lives lost due to one bad choice and that choice was, to fight the law, Brain became a danger when he proceeded to use his two and a half ton truck as a huge weapon and it could have resulted in more death had they of not stopped him. I know the family of Brian Good but I see no wrong in the actions the CPD took as they were not given minutes to think this over. Two people were buried, two families took a loss but to cast blame is only an alternative way of looking for a lawsuit. Money can not buy a right or a wrong and cannot bring back two lives lost due to criminal activity. My heart goes out to the woman who just lost a husband, a mother who lost a good son who served in our military and came home and still gave his life in the line of duty.. May God bless all that took a loss but in my heart of hearts, I have to go with what I feel is right, the CPD did what they had to do without thought, they are trained to prevent crime not cause it, Jerry Jones died doing his job, Brain Good died breaking the law, there is no blame only one wrong decision, He could have pulled over and both men would be alive today !!

First of all I would like to extend my condolences to officer Jones' family. I would also like to thank all the officers for their heroic efforts to keep people such as myself and my children safe from persons like Good who have obvious reckless disregard for the safety of others. While the tragic end to this particular situation will lead some to draw conclusions that seem to be the correct ones or the only ones to fit what they have now seen the truth is you weren't there you don't know the danger they felt therefore cannot say you wouldn't have done the same thing. If you listen closely to the sound in this video you will hear the engine of the truck being driven by Good continue to rev up even after the Durango driven by officers was against its grill. I don't know about anyone else but I believe I would feel my life was in danger at this point if not before. Last but not least I feel that the female involved should definitely be charged with 1ST Degree MURDER as two deaths resulted from a felony incident she was involved in. Again my heart and prayers go out to officer Jones family. I do appreciate all he did as an Officer of the Law. Thank you for him.

Regardless of who fired the shot that hit officer Jones it was Brian Good who killed him had he not rammed his girlfriends car had he not ran from the police and be the low life that he displayed himself to be at all times then a true and good man would still be alive as far as I am concerned Brian Good wrote his own life and it's ending and his ending was just what he deserved the only sad part was the loss of a wonderful officer .

I watched this ridiculous act by a bunch of gun toting thugs. Everyone of them, those who fired a shot should be prosecuted for murder plain and simple. Shooting a unarmed man with no regard to the passenger who had done nothing at all. These officer were looking for a reason to shoot someone when so many other options were available for stopping good. shoot the tires the radiator. They had no reason to discharge there firearms at good i hope they all go to jail for a long time.

These videos show that this tragedy is entirely the fault of Brian Good. He obviously has been terrorizing people for quite awhile, (per his arrest records broadcast on the news). Had he acted like a MAN, instead of a PUNK, by pulling over, when Officer Jones turned on his blue lights, he could have taken resposibility for his actions, and none of this would have happened! But no! He had to flee from the police because he didn't want to go BACK TO JAIL!!! If he knew that he didn't want to go back, then he should have OBEYED THE LAW!!!! Obviously, he DID NOT learn anything while being incarcerated, so maybe he should have STILL been in jail !!!! ANOTHER failure by the Judicial System !!!! And as for the law suit being filed by Brian Good's mother...I hope that I am called for jury duty....

Terrible procedure. Shoot first and then tell the driver to get out of the truck. The 1st shoot was fired by the policeman who pull around and finally blocked the truck, the smoke is evident. Second point the were no spot lights pointing at the truck, thirdly the positioning of the police vehicles put office Jones in a crossfire situation. If you look closely you will see an orange flash coming from the police car behind the truck, This is the shot the hit poor office Jones in the chest and he stumbled behind the tree. Fourthly procdedures need to be change when alt least 5 police cars are in chase that the EMS team should be in hot persuit should in case an innocent is injured. God Bless Office Jones may he rest in Peace. Fifthly the lack of communication between the county and city, both Police and EMS. This is what politics gives you, a dead honorable policeman.

Stuart, I disagree more with your conclusion RE the assault with a vehicle. Good was trying to get away and the occupants of the car had made assaultive actions by throwing items from the car. It is obvious to me that he made the u-turn and went towards the cruisers. Whether he meant to hit the cruisers is unknown. But, judging by the facts known to the officers at the time, a reasonable conclusion is a more severe assault. Now, your conclusion RE the gunfire being reckless may have some merit. I don't think that a final conclusion can be made from this video alone. I strongly disagree that they fired blindly. I think it was sensory overload which caused tunnel vision. Officer Jones may have been out of position. It is the nature of the police to go towards things that most of us run away from. This was a perfect storm of tragedy.

I no longer think their activity was criminal, but it scares me to think these same guys will be carrying loaded weopons. The excuse that Brian Good was using his vehicle as a weopon is lame. After the first collision, at the time of the shooting, his continued activity was not threatening. I understand that they were scared, but the fact they blindly unloaded their weopons shows a lack of discipline that could get innocent bystanders killed in future altercations. This is not what I expect from our police. While I think the decision to shoot Brian Good was very poor and even extreme, I am not going to defend him. He made the decision to run and placed other people in jeopardy. It is the reckless use of gunfire that bothers me, and it is the reckless use of gunfire that killed Jerry Jones.
