CHARLESTON -- Kanawha county commission discuss the issue of early voting.

The county has been working to come up with several satellite early voting locations.

County Clerk Vera McCormick has designated three locations: St. Albans, Belle, and Handley, where she thinks early voting should be set up.

A possible fourth would be in Elkview.

"I think it's important that if you live in Cross Lanes or you live in Elkview you live in the eastern part of the county that we should come to you and bring a voting booth to you, make it more convenient, especially for our seniors and other people, it's just the right thing to do and I think we'll get it done this year," explained Kent Carper.

These satellite locations would be rotating, three days in each.

The areas are not set in stone at this point.

Commission also talked more about the town of Pratt's financial hardships during Thursday's meeting.

Last week, the town voted to follow the county's recommendation to sign a 50 year lease with the Cheylan PSD.

Thursday, Carper says the next issue the town needs to tackle is the clean water issue.

He says their system is in terrible condition and needs hundreds of thousands of dollars to make safe again.

The Saga that is the Pink Pony was another hot topic.

Carper says the owners of the former strip club in Cross Lanes have filed a lawsuit against the county, which is going to be litigated.

The county plans to defend their position of opposition in re-opening the facility vigorously.

Carper says they saw the lawsuit coming -- but stands by their initial evaluation that contary to what club owners claimed, the facility has not been open.

Kanawha County's Metro Drug Unit works feverishly to combat the area's drug problem.

But with no money to make "buys" from alleged drug dealers, they're left with their hands tied.

Kanawha County Commission President Kent Carper started an initiative several years ago, where the county will provide "buy" money to MDENT.

And during Thursday's meeting, commissioners voted to once again supply them the cash to keep the busts coming.
