71st Annual Event in Boone County
RACINE -- One of West Virginia's Biggest Labor Day Celebrations is held in the Boone County community of Racine.
The United Mine Workers of America sponsor the annual Labor Day Picnic and Celebration.
It's a traditional Labor Day celebration featuring politicans, special speakers, music, lots of good food and more.
It's a way to honor workers and their families for their contributions past and present.
"The people who came here -- they did it because of what's in their heart and not what's in their pocket books," Cecil Roberts, UMWA President, said. "These people are committed to the united mine workers and the principles of organized labor."
This marked the 71st year for the annual Labor Day Picnic and Celebration in Racine.
