Charleston -- The Independence Run has also become an annual Fourth of July event in Charleston.
This evening about 250 runners started at Haddad Riverfront Park -- ran to Greenbrier Street -- then back to the park for a total of 5 kilometers.
This is the fifth year for the run.
Bubby Dent of Scott Depot was this year's winner -- running the five kilometer course in 15 minutes.
Top finishers get shoe bags and t-shirts.
