After smelling marijuana coming from the home, officers obtained a warrant and arrested Brandon Lee Cavender on cultivation of marijuana.

ST. ALBANS --  West Virginia State Police make a bust in the battle against drugs.

Troopers conducted what they called a knock-and-talk in St. Albans and around 4:30 ended up at a home on 1924 McKinley. After smelling marijuana coming from the home, officers obtained a warrant and arrested Brandon Lee Cavender on cultivation of marijuana.

Officers discovered that Cavendar was growing the plants inside a dresser with a false front.

Cavendar will be taken to the South Central Regional Jail.

How many more felons will we make out of otherwise ordinary law abiding citizens before we realize that marijuana prohibition is a failed policy that destroys lives?

Over 800,000 arrests for marijuana crimes a year, more that all violent crimes combined. 85% are for simple possession alone. This is an enormous drain on Law Enforcement in America, and it has thoroughly been proven an ineffective deterrent to drug use.

Tax and Regulate Marijuana, take the control of who gets marijuana away from organized crime, put age restrictions on it, and set quality standards for its purity. Legalization is about controlling marijuana, not about setting it free. Marijuana is readily available in the US, we just have no control over who gets it.

There goes the stash for the entire city of L.A.!

For real... these police officers should be proud as ever for knocking this guys dresser "stash" to pieces! Go team America!

These "troopers" need something better to do than "knock-and-talk"... maybe like go home and stop wasting tax payers' money! Citizens of "free" America, this is exactly what does encroach on the freedoms that Americans were given!

Brandon go in "not guilty" because there isn't a jury in America at the moment where there isn't at least one person that doesn't use or has used cannabis. This is exactly the problem. Instead of people being able to grow their own for personal use, they support organized crime... Hmmmm?

Legalize, control, regulate, and tax... or Police State forever.
