Union employees approve contract 217 to 83

HUNTINGTON -- Bargaining employees at Steel of West Virginia has significantly approved an agreement with the company.
The results of the contract vote was released on Thursday, after a day of voting for United Steelworkers Local 37. The union approved the contract 217 to 83.
"This labor agreement is very important to our employees and their families and the City of Huntington," said Steel of WV President Tim Duke. "Because it puts the company in a position where we can make the multi-million dollar investment required for our melt shop to meet the EPA's requirements for electric arc furnaces.
The contract term is set for 5 years.
