CHARLESTON -- On the same day a gas leak evacuates several downtown buildings, the Chemical Safety Board releases a safety video for emergency responders to learn from.
The video highlights several explosions that happened nationwide -- including the propane explosion at a convenience store in Ghent, West Virginia, as well as the Bayer CropScience chemical explosion.
The purpose of this video is to highlight three areas the CSB says they found recurring difficulties. Those areas include training, communications and community planning.
"Yes, those types of things by the csb and the state fire marshall and local fire officials remind people how serious an event this could be is a very good thing i certainly support that," said Kanawha County Commission President, Kent Carper.
Carper says local emergency responders will review this video to train for the future.
