Charleston -- The rainy day didn't stop cadets from the Mountaineer Challenge Academy from showing off their skills at the State Capitol Thursday.
Cadets performed drills for lawmakers.
Their goal was to show what they've learned at the academy and to thank the people who have supported the program.
The mission of the Mountaineer ChalleNGe Academy is to train and mentor selected at-risk youth.
"I have learned discipline and self control it helped me change a lot," said Cadet Raymond Hindes.
The Mountaineer Challenge Academy is located at Camp Dawson in Kingwood and operated by the West Virginia National Guard.
