Case remains under investigation.

WINFIELD -- A third person was arrested Thursday afternoon in connection with a sexual abuse case in Putnam County.

The accuser is a 12-year-old girl and authorities believe the alleged abuse started years ago.

Edward Beckett, 46, of Lincoln County was charged with two counts of sexual abuse.

According to the criminal complaint, Beckett had sex with the female victim, who was 12 years old at the time, between May and August of 2006.

He denied the charges when asked by a 13News reporter, but police said he admitted to the crimes on Thursday morning.

In February, Ray Parsons, the girl's father, was charged with two counts of incest and sexual abuse. The girl's mother, Mima Parsons, was arrested as an accessory.

Investigators say she allowed the sexual abuse to happen yet took no action to stop it. The girl told a school counselor who called the sheriff's department.

The investigation into these charges is continuing.
