Family mourning loss of Chris Withers.

OPP, Ala. -- A Huntington family is grieving this morning after a fatal accident claimed the life of a loved one in Alabama.

13 News has confirmed that Chris Withers, a recent graduate of Huntington High School, died in the two-vehicle accident, which occurred around 3:30 p.m. Sunday on US Route 331, eight miles north of the town of Opp, Ala.

In addition, 13 News has learned that fellow Huntington High graduate Bobby Gleason was taken into surgery at a hospital in Dothan, Ala., due to a head injury.

Family members have said Gleason was taken off life support. He is still listed in critical condition at the hospital.

We're told that brothers Matt and Kevin Rowsey, as well as Eddie Paul, were bruised up from that crash but are otherwise okay. The three are also recent graduates of Huntington High.

Matt Rowsey was listed in stable condition.

Paul was released from the hospital.

Alabama State Police said Withers was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the van. The accident remains under investigation.

Details of the crash will not be released until an official report has been completed.

The men, who were all 18, were traveling in a 2003 Chevrolet van. According to the Alabama Department of Public Safety, Matt Rowsey was driving at the time of the accident.

The occupants of the other vehicle, a 2003 BMW, were Ronald and Dianne Juenger of West Chester, Ohio. Both received unspecified injuries.

The accident remains under investigation. 13 News will have further information on this developing story throughout the day.
