Former Huntington athlete announces end to six-year career.

TAMPA, Fla. -- Jeff Morrison, formerly of Huntington, announced his retirement from professional tennis and the ATP tour Tuesday.

The retirement is effective immediately.

In his six-year career, Morrison twice reached an ATP world singles ranking of 84 (2002, 2004).

He reached one ATP final (Adelaide 2003) and two ATP semifinals (Los Angeles and Metz, France -- both in 2004).

Morrison is most remembered for a centre court victory at Wimbledon over then-No. 6 Juan Carlos Ferrero in 2002.

His career ATP Prize Money is $770,000.

Morrison was a four-time All-American while attending the University of Florida, and he was the 1999 NCAA Division 1 Men’s Singles Champion.

His future plans are uncertain at this time.
