Each month’s full moon has its own name, which Native Americans used to keep tabs on the seasons. The full moon we’re observing now is known as the Full Beaver Moon. Why? According to the Farmers’ Almanac, November “was the time to set beaver traps before the swamps froze, to ensure a supply of warm winter furs.” The name may also be due to the fact that this is the time beavers are getting ready for winter. -Alexandra Wilson
