Confucius says "hard laughter can make your face hurt."
Well, actually, Sarah is not really sure if he ever said that. But the philosophy sort of sums up the way this Chinese-American looks at life and why WOWK-TV's consumer reporter often ends her segment with a smile.
Sarah believes life is to be enjoyed, and she enjoys what she does - giving viewers information they can use.
A native of Baltimore, Sarah has been covering consumer news at the station since 1996. She has 17 years of experience in television, five years in radio and three years in government. The 1979 graduate of Towson State University has a bachelor of science degree in journalism. During her career, she has worked as an anchor, reporter, producer, writer and assignment editor at stations in Baltimore and Annapolis, Md.; Fairfax, Va.; Lancaster, Pa.; and Clarksburg, W.Va.
Along the way, she has won a number of awards and honors, including special recognition for a documentary on sexual child abuse, an education series and an investigative series on school bus violations.
When she is not busy covering the news, Sarah spends time with her husband at their home in Charleston. Although she grew up in a Chinese restaurant, Sarah assures that it actually is against the city health department regulations for her to cook, and her husband mans the kitchen in a desperate act of self-preservation. She can't cook worth a darn, but she does enjoy eating!
