Gina Long joined 13 News in September 2006 to co-anchor 13 News This Morning. She says she's excited to be waking up West Virginians and reporting stories important to the community!
Before moving to Huntington, Gina worked for another West Virginia Media television station, WVNS in Beckley, West Virginia. She helped launch that station's news department in October 2003. Gina paired up with Steve Ring, and together they became the first prime-time anchor team for 59 News. During Gina's time there, WVNS quickly became the fastest growing CBS station in the nation.
Gina got her start in television and radio at WOUB AM/FM/TV in Athens, Ohio. After that, Gina worked as a weekend anchor for the ABC and CBS affiliates in Lubbock, Texas. She also spent time as a producer at WTAE in Pittsburgh. Gina is a graduate of Ohio University's E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. In addition to her degree, she holds a GLC certificate in Global Leadership. She has consulted companies in the United States, Latin America and Hungary.
Gina has become an award-winning journalist, recognized several times by the Associated Press. She's reported on several memorable and historic events including the 2001 September 11th terrorist attacks, the 2003 Shuttle Columbia disaster and the 2006 Sago Mine tragedy.
In her spare time, Gina volunteers for school reading programs, the March of Dimes, and several other local organizations. As a former Miss Pennsylvania National Teenager herself, Gina also judges competitions and pageants on both the state and local level.
