Kristen joined 13 News in August of 2006 as a general assignment reporter and became Weekend Anchor in 2009. Reporting is her passion, and she has been able to cover some incredible things along the way. From flying down south in a C-130 with the National Guard after Hurricane Katrina, to going into the confines of a maximum security prison, to interviewing missing teen Natalee Halloway’s mother, Kristen doesn’t take a single moment for granted and is honored to bring the community the news that’s important.
Before coming to WOWK-TV, Kristen worked as reporter and weather forecaster at WMFD-TV in Mansfield, Ohio. She also anchored CNN Headline News Local Edition cut-ins daily and filled in as Host on the station’s live weekly show, Bon Appetit.
Kristen is a proud graduate of Ohio University’s E.W. Scripps School of Journalism. While in college, she interned for WEWS NewsChannel 5 in Cleveland, her hometown. It was there Kristen’s passion for news fully evolved. Kristen also volunteered as a reporter at the Government Channel in Athens, Ohio and was a national member of R.T.N.D.A. (Radio Television News Directors Association). She attended the national news conference in Las Vegas, Nevada in 2004.
When she’s not out digging around for the big story, Kristen enjoys working out at the gym, spending time with friends and family and cheering on her favorite teams, the Cleveland Browns, Cavs and Indians. A die-hard fan, don’t be surprised if you see her sporting her Cleveland gear during their respective seasons!
Kristen’s always looking for great story ideas. Feel free to drop her a line via .
