Jared joined the Storm Tracker Weather Team in December of 2005. He came to West Virginia after spending three years in West Texas. There Jared was the morning meteorologist for KTXS TV.
Jared’s love of the weather began during his childhood in Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley. Jared was fascinated by icicles and took innumerable snow depth measurements during winter storms called Nor'easters that would blanket his hometown regularly. His family supported his love of weather, but was none too appreciative at the frequency with which he tracked snow and ice throughout the entire house. Jared continued to love the weather when he and his family moved to Saint Louis. There Jared was given the chance to experience the many severe thunderstorms that were a rarity in Pennsylvania. Jared's decision to major in meteorology during his college years was an easy one to make.
Jared headed to New Hampshire's Plymouth State University located in the beautiful White Mountains. There Jared studied meteorology with an emphasis on broadcasting and minored in mathematics. Jared received several awards, including an American Meteorological Society Scholarship, for his studies at Plymouth State.
Jared has earned the American Meteorological Society's Seal of Approval for Television Weathercasting. The AMS awards their Seal of Approval to broadcast meteorologists who meet established criteria for scientific competence and effective communication skills. In addition to having the AMS' Seal of Approval, Jared is a member of both the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association.
Jared enjoys exercising, gardening and all of the outdoor activities that abound in the beautiful tree covered mountains of West Virginia. Jared is enjoying meeting the many friendly people of the surrounding communities and is proud to be a part of the Storm Tracker Weather Team.
