Jared Fialko joined the 13 Sports Zone in December 2006. Jared spent the last three years getting to know the Southern West Virginia sports world, including a year and a half stint at our sister station, WVNS in Beckley. Jared was born in raised in Northeastern Pennsylvania coal country, just outside of Scranton, Pennsylvania. Most Mountain State football faithful shun him when he mentions he went to college at Syracuse University, home of the “artists formerly known as the Orangemen.” During his stay in the “Salt City,” at the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, Jared spent a large chunk of his time in radio at WJPZ-FM while working as an on-air DJ at a top-five rated station in Scranton/Wilkes Barre on weekends and during the Summer. After spinning Nelly records roughly 6,000 times over that 4 year span, he’s ready for the World Series of Pop Culture. In his spare time, Jared enjoys powerlifting, running, and buying DVD’s that he will no doubt have to buy again four weeks later when a Special Edition is released. He honestly believes he has one of the best jobs in the Mountain State and enjoys nothing more than just talking with the numerous coaches, athletes, and fans in our great state, and getting to tell their stories. While he’s thrilled to get closer to Marshall University, he loves the atmosphere of high school sports. If you know of a special student athlete with a great story to tell, please email him at the address above
